Kelsey's High School Senior Portrait Session
I was delighted when Kelsey's mother contacted me regarding Kelsey's KUA High School senior portrait session as that is something I truly love doing and something I plan to do a lot more of in the future. High School senior photo sessions are so much fun and here at Featherstone, there are so many different locations and lighting effects to take advantage of.
The flower gardens were past their prime but there were so many other interesting and enchanting places to shoot, we even got out some cool props and a smoke grenade for some special effects when Kelsey said she was a Daenerys Targaryen fan and would love some photos with that theme.
The photos below are an example of the variety you can expect in a four hour, high school senior photo session. I chose about 45 of my favorites, but Kelsey ended up with over 150 finished images.
When I asked Kelsey if she had any specific hobbies and/or interests she mentioned she loved acting and was just cast in Matilda at Northern Stage Theater in White River Junction and also she loved Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones and would love some photographs with that theme. Although I was completely out of dragons, I did have a cool sword, cape and smoke grenade, not to mention a wind machine in the way of a portable leaf blower that Kelsey's mother Diane helped with.
In my opinion high school senior photos should be as diverse and different as the students, not the same place, same background and same lighting but catered and tailored to each student and his or her personality. Here are a few of my favorite GOT style photos from Kelsey's portrait session:

We actually started the photo session in my "portable studio" for a few headshots and studio style portraits.
Then we walked out to the garden area for a few more lifestyle senior pictures.
In a longer high school photo session there is plenty of time for wardrobe changes, a few breaks, make-up and location changes. Here are few more editorial style photos and once again Kelsey's mother was brilliant with the wind machine!
There were so many awesome senior portraits of Kelsey it was hard to narrow it down to under 50 for my blog, she was such a fantastic model and we had such a wonderful time! Here are a few more of my favorites from the day:
