Editorial Fine Art Portrait Photography
What Is Fine Art Portrait Photography?
Fine art portrait photos are images that are created solely for their imaginative or aesthetic quality.
The goal of fine-art photography is to express an idea, a message, or an emotion. This stands in contrast to representational photography, such as photojournalism, which provides a documentary visual account of specific subjects and events, literally representing objective reality rather than the subjective intent of the photographer.
A fine art portrait photograph is intended for wall art, albums or coffee table books. These portraits are timeless and capture the essence of the subject's character in a vision created by either myself or a collaboration between the two of us. I usually use props, several off camera lights and very specific locations for these sessions depending on the vision "we" have in mind.
My favorite type of fine are portraits are the ones rooted in Medieval times, Game of Thrones style with deep colors, swords and smoke grenades, however we did an Alice in Wonderland themed session once and it was absolutely magical.
