The day could not have been more glorious for Samantha and Albin's beautiful wedding at The Woodstock Inn and Resort, Woodstock, Vermont. While Samantha got ready in the bridal room at the resort, Albin was at a private residence in Quechee and the two met in the garden courtyard at the Woodstock Inn for their First Look. Sabrina Brown did a great job with the wedding planning and coordinating events throughout the day and as usual Birds of a Flower were amazing with the bridal bouquets and reception flowers. Jacqueline Perron also did a beautiful job with make up and Suzanne Howe did an equally amazing job with the bridal party's hair.
While the bridal party were getting their hair and make-up done I had a few minutes to take Samantha's dress and veil down to the charming library room at The Woodstock Inn for a couple detail photos.
I was also able to photograph Samantha's engagement ring and the handkerchiefs that were given to her as a gift. Then she was buttoned in her beautiful wedding dress, the champagne was opened and we had a few minutes for a few bridal portraits before she headed outside to the garden for the First Look.
First Look's are very popular these days. It’s not uncommon for the wedding couple to ultimately miss an hour or so of their wedding reception or cocktail hour because of photos. Photos of the couple, their wedding party and family often suck up a ton of time in the space between the wedding ceremony and the wedding reception, which is one of the benefits of choosing a first look—you can have the time to get these important photos before the ceremony even begins. There is also time for a romance session with just the wedding couple, away from guests and a bit more relaxed. This way, they’re refreshed for the ceremony as well as having the opportunity to actually enjoy cocktail hour, stress-free.
After the couple's First Look we took some romance photos of just the two of them and then their bridal party and family members showed up for some more photos before the wedding ceremony at North Chapel Church.
As the custom with most orthodox weddings, flash photography is not allowed so it is so important to have the equipment capable of capturing beautiful ceremony photos in low light situations. Gael and I were not allowed to go past the first pew so we did not get the couple looking at each other as we usually do but we did photograph some very important and tender moments throughout the ceremony.
After the wedding ceremony we had time to take a few more photos at Middle Bridge in Woodstock before the couple headed over to their wedding cocktail hour on the front lawn of the Woodstock Inn.
While Gael photographed the cocktail hour I had time to photograph the beautiful reception venue in the ballroom at The Woodstock Inn, where Birds of a Flower did an amazing job with he floral arrangements and decorations.
Then it was time for the wedding reception, some fun dancing, some hilarious toasts, a hug from Samantha's grandmother and cake cutting.
